more corvid harassment

local crows like a fight so far this week they have taken on the local pair of buzzards and a female hen harrier.... they were also creating a fuss in sme trees nearby so my money is they had another bird of prey cornered...

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Chaffinch, I had a fat square in one of those square cages hooked onto a branch of a tree and a crow sat on the branch, studied the fat feeder for a few minutes and then proceeded to open the cage so that the fat fell to the floor and the crow and his pals then ate it all. Deciding to thwart him, the next day I went out and hung the fat feeder from the branch via a length of string (about 2 ft) so that Mr Crow couldn't reach it. I watched in amazement as, after a couple of false starts, he pulled a small length of string up and then held it in place with his claws, pulled up another bit and so on until he could reach the fat. I was and still am astounded at how darned clever they are.
