Actually, it's all over really. The male bird Nelson was electrocuted, the female, Nellie struggled on with the two chicks. Then there was some terrible weather and she couldn't fish and the chicks became malnourished and dehydrated.
They tried to help by putting fish on a platform for Nellie but for some reason Nellie stopped feeding the chicks. One chick died and two days later they intervened and rescued the last remaining chick. It's been heartrending.
The rescued chick is now in a rehad. centre and has a foster osprey mother. It is eating and doing well.
