The last 3 or 4 days I have noticed several birds flying quite low around my house. Sometimes they line up on the eaves and that leaves the problem of droppings. They are black and white. Is there any reason for this or more importantly, any solution to the problem.
Thanks
From my very limited knowledge (and I am quite happy to be corrected) they may be house martins, which can never land on the ground because they can't take off again. They may be massing preparatory to departing. I don't quite get the problem, I would just clean up the droppings. I'd probably sweep the area with Jeyes fluid.
Thank you both. The birds are about the size of robins. Its not usually a problem for me, but when the windows and footpath have lots of bird droppings, it not very nice
You should be glad they dont nest under the eaves. As Tilly says, they are with us only a short time and bring summer with them. Now herring gulls are another thing altogether!
Kinded spirit Tilly! We have brick sized holes in outbuildings to let swallows et al nest in them. My best walking boots were in use as a nest last year and I had to use an old pair.
