Chick must be ready to go soon, she's been leaping on and off the branch to the left and standing on the edge of the nest and flapping about. I hope the camera is working when she eventually fledges.

It's on at the moment, LB. Mum's just taken away the skin and the tail of the squirrel. No beak flossing!
I've just read on the RSPB site that there are only 280-430 pairs of Goshawks breeding in the UK so I feel really privileged to be able to watch this. I'd like to see her fledge. That would be fantastic.

The first one died overnight and was taken away by the parent. That was the tiny one. The second one died during the day and was fed to the remaining chick.
The second chick was ill. It had a problem with feeding. Its beak didn't close properly. It was a sorry sight to see. It was thought to be infected with Trichomonosis.
