Dear AB Editor.
Please could you be kind enough to explain what your remit is, and what editing policy you follow.
I ask this kindly in the hope that, by knowing what you are able to do, or not do, when you do it and so on, users of this site will be able to understand your powers and limitations, and then not get so concerned when you do not respond, edit, or take heed of issues that are important to them. eg: changing of user names: abusive comment; impersonation of other users, and so on.
Written more in sorrow than in anger, by a former contributor, and occasional reader of the site, who despairs at some of the recent items that have appeared
Valid points Potatoman ,Cheyenne and Didwot. I get the feeling some users only intention is to ruin Answerbank I can only imagine that the original founders of Answerbank would feel very sad as to what has happened to Answerbank .I wonder if this is why wraith felt he had to leave? I visit Answerbank a lot less now but glad to see that AB users are still a witty lot. Also have noticed that someone has been pressing the report buttons for no reason.
I used to use AB a lot, but due to commitments, visits here far less frequent than I'd like. But one of the other reasons I don't visit so often is the bickering etc amonst some of the users. This used to be such a friendly site, with good quality Q's & A's.
Now the tone has deteriorated, many of the regulars have disappeared, names copied etc.
Cheynee re you remarks about defending users who's names have been abused.... it is sometimes very difficult to know who is having their name abused because there are so many similar names these days, and members who are 'veterans' of the site, choose not to get drawn into the bickering that goes on, which I think shows great restraint and maturity.
Dear Users
There are often several reasons why a question or answer is banned. For example:
If it is abusive, profane or sexually explicit.
If it has no relevence to the Question and Answer nature of the site.
Unnessarily chatty threads maybe removed under the judgement of the AB Editor.
Questions and answers may also be automatically removed if reported several times by other user(s).
Unfortunately due to the sheer volume of content on this site it is not possible to give individual responses to the queries about banned answers. If you would like to know more about the reasons for answers being removed, please refer to the Site Rules.
We do however ask for your patience and understanding regarding this matter.
Thank You
