Spell Corrector
69 Answers
Would it be at all possible to have an automatic spell corrector inbuilt into all topics of AnswerBank. I am getting heartily sick of trying to read some O/Ps & having to constantly decipher them whilst trying to make sense of them. I wish people would read what they have typed before pressing the submit button. I am particularly concerned about statements saying ''I no'' instead of ''I know''& the constant misuse of ''there & their''.Call me an old fart if you like I really don't care, all I know is that I was ''taught proper innit''

You're an old fart. :)
Spell checkers on websites themselves are not practical really as it comes in the form of the link below, meaning people have to actually click "check spelling" and go through the process of checking the spelling and most people can't/won't be bothered to do that. (also a lot of people don't even realise they are using the wrong words with no/know and their/there/they're and a spell checker wouldn't pick them up on it as they are correctly spelt words)

Most browsers (apart from IE!) have the ability to spell check as you type which is much better, but again if people don't enable it or simply use the wrong word it's not going to help

spellings aren't an annoyance for me, but misuse of words is - should of instead of should have for eg.
However, I rarely, if ever correct anyone
I use Google chrome and it comes with a built in spell checker so anything misspelt is underlined in red with the 'right click' option to use the correct spelling
