I am getting somewhat frustrated by the fact that, before my completion of typing a reply to a question, the screen suddenly 'comes-up' with another thread and all that I have typed is then lost.

Are any other folk experiencing likewise.

Ron.

nu huh.
no
No - it must be your end, ron....
Nope.
No. The only time a different thread comes up is when I click on a link to another thread. Go back to the original thread and answer...when I've submitted, the thread that was linked to comes up. My answer appears where it should though.
Yes, I've had that, ummm - you find yourself looking at the linked thread, not the one you accessed it through.

Trim...I am certainly not hitting the page up/down keys which are outside of my normal areas for typing. However you have now made me think about my having a faulty keyboard; because it's not the first time that my postings have been lost because of another page coming onto screen.

Ron.
I think Trim's likely to be right: a wonky keyboard at your end. Have you noticed any biscuit crumbs going missing lately?
Have you checked that Num Lock is not on by mistake? It can give you alternative Pg Up and Down functions against something like the @ key? especially if you're on a laptop. Worth a try.

No Maidup.... It's nothing to do with Num lock and I wish jno to know that my keyboard is spotless...... because I have a USB vacuum cleaner.

Ron.
nope never happened

It is all very strange. Anyway it's now USB for me....Up-stairs..Bed.

Good night....Ron.
Strange indeed....but then, this is a strange site!
If it is a laptop, are you touching the fingerpad bit while typing?
Question Author
Good thought Hopkirk, if I were using a laptop.

Ron.
Morning. I am aware of the behaviour which Ummm describes - this is because the site caches the "newest" page. When returning to an older page you'll sometimes be dumped to the new page post submission.

I think the wonky keyboard/pressing a key by mistake diagnosis sounds fairly likely.
Question Author
G'afternoon Ed.......I have experienced the ummmm phenomenon and accept it as being normal; because such postings do appear in their intended threads. Nevertheless, I do get concerned when typed material mysteriously disappears into the ether.

However, as I appear to be the only person who has lost an intended posting, during the course of typing, it is now something which I must 'finger-out' for myself.:-)

I don't think my keyboard is faulty, but could not be certain that my fingers are faultless. Consequently,I shall monitor the future position and report back if necessary.

In the meanwhile, I thank you and all the ABers who have responded to this thread.

Ron.
Have a good afternoon Ron.
