Advertisements on AB.

It has now reached the stage whereby Adverts are Annoying me.

I can be scrolling through a thread and suddenly a full page Advert will appear. Also there are occasions when exiting AB I become confronted with another full screen advert.

Consequently, I suggest that attention is given to this matter.

it sounds as if you might need a pop-up blocker too if it's full-page ads bugging you.

never had a full page ad when I've been on AB - only the perfectly ignorable little side ads.

I have Adblock Plus but when I engage it for AB I am unable to traverse the site. Everything disappears except the list of Topics and nothing thereafter will activate.

I don't have any special block switched on, but only see the ladder ads on the side.

if you're using Firefox, this one allegedly blocks pop-ups (I haven't got it)

Thanks jno.... I do use firefox with the pop-up advert blocker but I can't get it to work on AB. Perhaps AB has put a few cookies into my computer to make things awkward for me, because I am something of nuisance 'pop-up':-)

Anyway I am now about to pop-up to bed and will look in again tomorrow.

I think I have now had a full page of advertising the latest phenomena to hit my screen and which seems to have developed since, imo, the introduction of the somewhat superfluous 'share' button.

Nevertheless, I still regard AB as a super site (the best) and I wish to thank all who have responded in this instance.

Ron, we don't do pop ups or full screen adverts. You either have another tab open on a site which does, OR you have some malware on your computer forcing these pop-up.

Please update all your anti-virus/malware, scan, and let us know.

Also, if you could test AB in isolation of other sites we'd be grateful of your findings.

I have never had a full page advertisement on my connection. And I don't mind the side adverts because they pay for this lovely free site.

As the Ed has pointed out, Ron, there are no full-page pop-ups on this site. Your PC has got some malware on it.

Download, run and install the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to get rid of it:

The only time I get any sort of advert screen come up is when (by mistake) I click on the scrolling advert above the OP box. Generally though, I set my screen size so I can't see that advert box anyway.

I have just finished a full scan with MSE and had a clear report.

Incidentally Chris, I have avoided Malwarebytes because, the moment I tried to download, a (WOT) message appeared to warn me ..."This site has a poor reputation".

Anyway, as nothing untoward has happened since my original posting, I propose monitoring matters.

I have malware and it doesnt do anything.. it just scans of which i have MSE for that, so I downloaded adblock plus and its fantastic for Google Chrome users that is :)

That's a new one to me. I've never had any full page adverts when using AB only the little ones that are always down the side. I have Internet Explorer have tried Firefox but couldn't get on with it. Certainly sounds as if you may have some nasties on your pc Ron.
