I doubt that it would be possible for AB to have such a facility. However, it would be nice if there was a means whereby one could draw the attention of a member to an item in which they could be interested and may wish to comment, because of their particular knowledge on the subject concerned.

ron, i know why you want it, but all you have said really is what YOU want it for, how it would benefit YOU...not about the person who you are fao-ing...they may not want it.

i know in the instance you cite, it could be a frustrating thing to seek clarification and they dont see it...and if its that important then yes start a new thread... but thats only one reason ....
but the cons far outweight the benefits...you are forcing someone to continue posting on something they may have no further interest in

a dedicated fao section, would inevitably turn into chat, be filled with nonsensical posts and be a prime place for attacking someone personally...

it would be filled with "fao bertie = please see my post on travel" or whatever...and i for one will look at posts as and when i please, and would be unlikely to even look at the fao section...so id likely miss anything anyway

you woulld probably even get fao posts in other sections telling people to go and look at the fao thread lol.

joko...You originally suggested that FAO's were a means of contact and you now appear to be knocking your own opinion.

I take the view that if people wish to ignore communications they are at liberty to do so. Consequently there would not be pressure put upon anyone to reply. How could there be.? Furthermore, I fail to see that a dedicated FAO section would develop into a chat line if the Ed forbids it.

no i am not at all ron..thats nonsense

ron i think its naive to think that people wont feel pressured or obliged to answer for fear of being rude, or being asking again and again until they reply, and get irritated by being constantly contacted...

i think your desire to see this happen is clouding your mind, and therefore your arguments for it are extremely single minded.

refusing to acknowledge that some wont like it doesnt change anything im afraid

i personally dont care, i will not look at it, nor answer any demands for my attention...

ok joko....You think I talk nonsense, am naive, my mind is clouded, I am single minded and refuse to acknowledge your opinions.

Consequently, as you now appear to be pressurising me, I shall just ignore your remarks in this instance.

Best wishes....Ron.
''there would not be pressure put upon anyone to reply''

Other than a 'FAO' thread specifically aimed at an ABer... no, not much pressure then...
If an ABer is either knowledgable on a subject or is interested in one, they will go to that category. No need for PM's imo
not at all ron.

I take the view that if you wish to ignore communication with me you are at liberty to do so. Consequently there should not be any pressure put upon you to reply

but best wishes to you too.
