They may be necessary, though having 4 splashed on the page is too much, however i am quite disturbed by the fact that a site i recently looked up and purchased an item from now appears when i open out AB. does that mean that one is being targeted, and that your details are now known. Perhaps the ad is only privy to me, but i don't like this one bit.

I have already commented on this , I looked for car insurance, now I get insurance adverts , but they are for my exact model of car.
Just looked at that windfarm thread now it is ads for solar panels & alternative energy.

Eddie, so it's true, well i can't say that i like this, it's bad enough being bombarded all over the page with flashing adverts.
Question Author
flashing as in on off on off, before someone makes a comment
This has been going on for yonks. I think it was google that first introduced targeted ads...

Simple answer....if you don't like this 'free' site you use....try another site!
Question Author
ummm yes indeed
What ads?

I see no ads :)
Question Author
currently banks, MWB business exchange, post office and top of the page changes to different adverts.
Question Author
M&S and a makeover site so they change a lot.
If you use Firefox instead of IE it has an adblocker which gets rid of 90% of the adverts. I just ignore them .( just answered the thread on payday loans so now I'm getting ads for credit cards for poor credit.)

it's also available in Chrome
Question Author
Eddie thank you, will see how this works out. By the way i had to uninstall my internet security to install a newer version which hasn't arrived in post as yet, so could that have been the problem, as it blocks banners
Question Author
also have do not track installed so thank you again
google chrome and ad block
much as I hate to quote the Mail, do ABers know what Google is up to? This seems like a serious breach of privacy to me
