I'm sure this has already been asked but can't find it.  When one reports a question or answer, does it automatically get banned or does AB Ed check it first and then decides.  I've had an awful lot of sensible (to my mind) answers banned on a particular thread so am wondering who and why??

Hi neti - I would think the AB Ed would check any reported Q/A's before banning them (I prefer deleting), otherwise we probably wouldn't get to read half of what appears on here. Now wouldn't that be sad!

From what the editor said, if a user gets a lots of reported questions and answers in a certain period then his/her questions are automatically (i.e robot in action) withdrawn from the site and put on hold until the editor checks through the postings and makes a decison on the user.  Meanwhile the postings remain in 'my profile' and are not shown on the site.  Is someone targeting you again Netti?

Are the banned postings showing as 'banned' in your profile?  If not the above will be the case.

If banned is showing then the editor has made the decision.  Reporting a question or answer does not get them banned until the editor checks them out.

Should have said makes a decision on the user's postings

ABE has said before, if a person has multiple reports against them, they will be suspended temporarily and postings will not appear on the main Boards although they will show up in their profiles. The postings are then checked and if they're ok they will re-appear. That has happened to me believe it or no.

It seems the "Report this Question/Answer" option goes as soon as one person reports it. I would have thought it better that it stay until a certain number of DIFFERENT folk have reported it. At least that way it would save ABE having to check the reports immediately.

Question Author
It was on Artful's question a while ago about us lot being unfriendly and all my answers have been banned and they were kind and useful and encouraging.  I'm  not that bothered just wondered why me??  Maybe too chatty but it was all relevant.
The title of this post is 'Reporting a question' but the content and the replies refer to reporting questions/answers.  I see lots of opportunities to report answers but how and where do members get to report a question?  Am I missing something obvious here?

Under each question are three sections:

Subscribe to question  Report this Question  Post an Answer

Once a question has been reported the 'Report this Question' section disappears.

LOON, I cannot imagine why you were banned ;-P
