Suspensions (again!)
I am sure many folk are aware of the"Temporary Suspension" that kicks in when too many reports are recorded on a Member's account. At the time of this post 1.30 pm 21st May, my recent posts have been pulled. I know it has been said previously that this Board is not manned 24/7 but as this is accessed 24/7, should it not be manned for more hours than at present, at the weekend at least? We are being penalised as being guilty until proven innocent.
What does everyone else think?

Even with the manning that is currently in place there have been clones, abusive posts and constant chat. The AB team are trying to keep all users happy and monitor large numbers of posts daily. This is not an easy task and asking them to work longer hours or employ extra staff is IMHO unreasonable.
We are not being penalised. As the ED has already pointed out they are constantly reassessing the levels of their automatic systems and fine tuning them. This takes time.
No-one knows who the imposters are, maybe they are aliases of regulars who just want to stir up some trouble. It has already been suggested that some users have a dozen or more log ins. Just think an imposter could end up as a moderator. Scary eh!!
What then? By the time AB found out they could have wiped the site.
Seriuosly though, some form of weekend moderation would be useful.
Although AB Ed is responsible for our spiritual welfare 24/7, it seems a little unrealistic to expect him to be on watch non-stop.
And nice as it might be to get users to act as moderators, which ones? As I understand recent (but quickly removed) posts, there are no more than half a dozen users anyway, operating under a plethora of aliases. This may be an exaggeration, but it does leave you wondering exactly who would be entrusted with the moderating.
I suspect, in the real world, we'll just have to go on as at present, with THECORBYLOON being banned at regular intervals. But if AB Ed can find some cast-iron honest, sober weekend moderators, who actually exist, then great, try it.
So it's ok for me to be temporarily suspended weekend after weekend is it? I used the word penalised because it takes an unknown number of reports to activate the suspension and it's done to co-incide wi ABE being absent.
If I'm the one being targetted then I think I have the right to be protected against it. As for asking ABE to work extra hours I'm not. ABE must get cover for leave and sickess so why can there not be cover at weekends?
If someone really is picking on TCL, I suppose the software could be tweaked to spare him his weekly trip into oblivion, while leaving others subject to the usual moral laws of the universe? Unless he posts in Aberdonian, of course, in which case show him no mercy.
But if he is being targeted, can't the culprit(s) be identified?
TCL not wishing to point any fingers, but the number of reports does seem to increase when the level of chat increases. I for one report anything that gets too chatty and I'm sure that others do the same.
I do not target any individual. I report anything that leads the site away from its intended purpose. As posts are being removed because of the number of reports it can be assumed that I am not alone in my feelings.
