Deleting questionable posts - maybe warn first ?
Dear AB ED,
After the deletion of lee_lee's message from Body and Soul, about which I have gone on a bit I know (but it worried me), how about an interim step, you insert an AB ED response into the thread along the lines of "I've got my eye on this one - cool it!". I don't know how the questioner finds out it's been pulled, but for me, a user, all I saw was that it suddenly wasn't there, and I worried about the effects on the questioner.
If it's not in Chatterbox, and unless it is utterly beyond the pale, please give more benefit of the doubt.
Presumably you find out because someone Reports a question or an answer, but then presumably also you then go in and take a look, so why not issue a warning at that point.
You could also invite more personal details from registering users. Not mandatory, but anyone who declines to give them could be more suspect than those who'll tell you more about themselves. Always a hard balance to strike on a site like this though.
