What I'm curious about is what is meant by the much used "&quot.......&quot". Is this, as I assume, a reference to the use of what we used to call quotation marks. I know when a quotation is read aloud to an audience the reader, to signify that it is such, will say quote, and end quote to show that it has ended.

I haven't been on AB very long and everyone else may understand this, but if it is as I suspect, why don't they just use quotation marks? It really is much simpler.

geo0939 - if you have tried using quotation marks when replying to an answer you will have seen that this is the way the AB system automatically shows them - "exactly like this". To be truthful it is a pain but it can be gotten around by using ' instead.

Well how odd - that is the first time that I have done that and for it to come out properly. I just don't know why!! Perhaps I better leave it to AB Ed or someone who knows more than I obviously do!!! Sorry geo0939.

Flamingo, this reminds me of the man seeking compensation for a supposed injury who couldn't raise his arm above his chest and proceeds to stick it straight up in the air to show how high he used to be able to lift it.
