I have raised this a few times now with Ed but I shall give you my support as I think it would be successful.

News is a sort of debating section... perhaps ranting section would be more like it; and I suspect too many debates would soon become rants. Look up any of the questions on religion or the death penalty and they all seem to create more heat than light.

Hi All,

We will not be introducing a new debating section, per se - but I would tend to agree with jno in the respect that all weighty discussions we usually have in News or Science or indeed History and Myths, can be loosely called a "debate" or if the contributors have just returned from the pub - a "rant".

I have just had a thought up in the religious thread, that a debating sub-catagory along the lines of CB attached to news would be , erm, what's the word I am looking for? (voice from within shouts crazy) innovative?
