Hi joko I had my answer banned too, and for the life of me can't see that there is anything wrong with it. I don't mind having an answer banned if it's in any way dodgy but I felt my answer was wholly acceptable and quite reasoned. I agree that the policing of the banning policy is really lax, it seems complaining about someone because you don't like what they are saying is quite enough.See what you think.

Danny dawson, I don't think you're grasping the difference between reality and fiction. It's perfectly fine for a fictional character of any race to say anything in the context of a story, it's not ok for any of us in the real world, white or black, to incite racial hatred.That's the difference between a remark on Coronation St and for example, the cartoons of Mohammed that seem to have to be brought into every single thread no matter what it's about.

noxlumos - i can see how an individual may not like your answer because they don't agree with it, but you are right it is certainly not abusive or offensive or inflammatory!

since when is not agreeing with an answer enough to report an answer - and for the ed to ban?

if the whole thread had gone, fine, but no its just a few answers - who were actually answering the question logically, rather than some who were having a go... well its just wrong

If more than a certain number of users report an answer (it's not many - only about 3 I think) it automatically gets banned. The Ed is then supposed to review it, after which point it could get reinstated. It sometimes takes him/her quite some time to actually do this.
I can't see anything wrong with any of the stuff quoted above.

Ed.'s always banning my threads. I've asked why lots of times, but I just get quoted about breach of Site Rules. Nothing specific.

I asked Ed. about his blog last week, Ed replied, then after a few more replies had been posted, the thread was banned.

Only Ed. knows why, children. Only Ed.

I think it is a misconception that it only takes 3 reports for the bots to remove a question or reply for scrutiny and assessment. It depends on the reason selected by the reportee. If it is one of the 'lesser' options, e.g. abusive or wrong category or off topic/chat it takes loads and then it sometimes doesn't go. Of however the option of profane, sexually explicit or (I think) abusive, is selected, it does only take 3 reports. Am I close ED? They still show In The Heat Of the Night on TV and I have always found that film racist but no one kicks off about that. Is it not the case that as Corrie is part of many people's almost real existence, that the lines blur and viewers and the media alike tend to forget this? I expect the Corrie producers are reveling in the publicity yet again and it cost them nothing.
