Body and Soul too sexually explicit

The Body and Soul section of this website has seen in the last few weeks questions that I consider not to be suitable for children.For example. Whether Liverpool winning the FA Cup was better than sex and what was the last time people had had an orgasm.Since this is a family website it is worrying that the Editor thought this was acceptable for children to be reading.I am not a Father but if I was I would stop my children using this site.

I wouldn't let a small child of mine use this site regardless of the (occasional) sexually explicit post anyway. you only need to look at other categories, especially News, and you'll notice it can degenerate into downright nastiness and name calling at times.

Saying that, I still love AB- warts 'n all!!

Do you think young children use this site though littletimmy? Personally, i doubt anyone under the age of 14 would get anything out of it.The thing is, if its overly censored, then it becomes a childs site. These things are bound to be talked about and i don't see why not, unless the answers are sexually explicit, which i haven't really come across and even if they were, there is a report function in place.I think to ask if watching Liverpool is better than sex, is not really offensive is it? I'm sure they see worse things on the TV everyday!

nothing that is discussed here is any worse than the material a child can "read" in the sun or the star news paper (prob a lot cleaner all things considered), so i wouldn't worry to much about it as i'm sure the kids aren't going to be corrupted by the AB's racier post...

My nine year old daughter uses the site and has received some very helpful answers, particularly in the History section. dot.hawkes helped her a lot in her 'cowboy' phase. I admit I'm usually lurking over her shoulder in case Loosehead says it slightly too straight or Ward Minters been on the the gin fizz.

ditto littletimmy. Straight questions that get straight answers are ok, but some of it is just adults licking their lips, which isn't appropriate for a family site. Wouldn't let my kids read the Star either, come to that.

its part of life and we shouldn't be making kids think that this kind of thing is wrong because they end up repressed and prudish - get a grip

Joko what a very weak argument.Children do not need to hear about people having orgasms they have their whole life to be grown ups.Let kids be kids and stop surrounding them with sexual words.It is not necessary and should not be allowed on this site.

sorry but I agree with joko on this. Nothing I've ever seen here is so shocking that it's unsuitable for kids. Sex and so forth are facts of life. My kids don't giggle and make a stupid immature fuss over things because sex and "words" are not a big thing in our house, it's just another aspect of life, like eating and is totally ignored as any big deal. Naturally we don't have conversations about orgasms etc over dinner, but niether do we shy away from questions as they naturally occur because they have read, heard, seen something which prompts a question.Why is it so shocking to read that adults have sex? Is that some big revelation to kids then? I really think most kids discuss far more in the playground than they'll ever read on here.

Hollyoaks, which has the largest viewing figures for a teenie soap in the world, have had stories of, gay and lesbo relationships, rape (both male and female), STD's, teenage abortion, prostitution and lots of sexy images of scantily clad fillies.

Magazines on the top shelf have been wrapped in film for the passed three years but can still show bozookas and underware through the covers.

Eminenenenenemm, Snoop Dog, Dr Dre and other (c)rap and pop singers sing about anal sex, ****** and group sex like Cliff sang about living dolls.

I really do not think www.theanswerbank.co.uk has promoted the moral decline of our kids to any great degree really.

timmy - your claim that someone using those words in a question makes it unsuitable for children is the weak argument here.

merely mentioning these things is not obscene, and having your kids grow up believing that it is, will only instill a sense of guilt and repression in later life - if you want your kids to have 'issues' later on then you are going the right way about it.

no jno i don't discuss mine in front of kids, but if they asked me about it i'd tell them. i would not be crude or vulgar - but then neither have the people who asked the questions cited - but i would not hush them up and tell them its dirty and never to be spoken about again.

sex is not dirty

if you don't want your kids to read it don't let them use the site.
this is a q &a site used predominantly by adults and often adults want to ask adult questions.
