I dont think it's a good idea, apart from the fact that there are something like 40 thousand members lol I sometimes like just browsing. Most other sites I go on show you who is online and it just makes you feel obliged to talk to people, even if you dont really want to.

I don't think it's a good idea either .There must be myriads of people on here and quite frankly I couldn't care less who is on here at any given time or not.If you could see who was on here then people would be accused of lurking if they don't contribute. Life is public enough without the need to tell the world you are logged into a website.

There may be some people who are just browsing & don't want anyone else to know they're on here.

It's a bit like when you're on msn - if you don't change your status to off-line or busy, everyone's popping up saying 'Hi' & it can drive you nuts if you're only looking at emails, or chatting to one particular person of your choice. Besides it doesn't bother me who's on or off AB!

wouldnt it stop the nutters posting in a multitude of differant names ? you would see (as an example) me on line, watch my name go off the list and "myothername" pop up. wouldnt take long to suss the salad tossers would it ?!?!?!
