Ed....can you please please please re-introduce the chatter bank so that some of the tedious clowns in Body and Soul can have their little digs and rants in a different section.

B & S used to be for people to post about genuine problems etc but has now turned into an absolute joke.

Get your act together Ed and sort something out please !!!

Zeus that comment is wholly not true and totally irrelevant. hammerman, (if you do a search of his user ID), has not done anything of the sort. You should get more sleep Zeus and be more tolerant.

I've just read on this site that there is a Big Brother section that is not advertised in the list of contents on the left. Why don't they do the same for Chatterbank?

If it's not advertised, new users will not accidentally intrude upon it and suffer apoplexy. They could also add a sign up function for it and warn people about the contents beforehand. This would release Ed from her function as censor and enable B & S to return to its former role as an informative and interesting part of the site.

Drusilla and hammerman - I couldn't agree more with you. The true spirit of AB seems to have fallen by the wayside. I believe 'intelligent' discussion is quoted in ABs about us page. I do wish more people would read that before posting...

They achieve their aim by creating heated argument amongst the members. The troll will join a forum/chat room and appear very friendly until they have the confidence of the members then post a provocative question or comment.

In the old days when there were many chat rooms to go into they would often move from one to another fairly quickly. Nowadays with less chat rooms they tend to target forums more often, and stay around longer. The only way to get rid of them is to ignore them and they'll eventually move on to their next site.

I agree ..and why people feed these trolls is beyond me ..because they are so obviously just that ....trolls.
Some of the threads are mind boggling...and yet people still jump on their egotistical bandwagons and feed them,which ,after all is what they want....attention.
We now have people apologising to them just in case they were mistaken....Jesus wept.

Oh and hammerman? I dont think "Get your act together Ed" is the best way to go about making a request. Ed isnt here to make sure we are all nice to each other, why should she care (I dont mean that in a bad way ED)

The ED cannot possibly monitor every single user ..she would end up as a gibbering wreck ! But...I can see your point ...the only way to go is to IGNORE them ..they will then bog off. The more people pander to them the more they will carry on with this childish behaviour. But ..you can't please all of the people all of the time.It is sooo obvious to anyone with any sense that these people are trolls so why they persist in feeding them is a mystery.
I quite agree ...if they want to chat ..and make facetious remarks and take the juice out of one another then let them find a chatroom that caters for this sort of behaviour.

Drusillas suggestion is one of the most sensible I have heard for ages.

You have to have a bit of give and take and as I have said before life would be miserable without a bit of ranting and raving(News) and discussions and banter in other categories ..but the insidious nastiness and trolling in B&S (aka CB ) is getting to be tedious.

No......I have never seen this user be anything but helpful and courteous especially in Home and Garden and Animals and Nature....but then you never frequent many other categories do you or offer anyone any useful information ? ..I think you are confusing said user with someone else.

Well it isn't really fair to comment and name call in this thread so I will rest my case. I can only comment on threads that I have seen ..re...gardening etc and animals where helpful advice has been given .
I also would rather not read drivel and tend to skim over it which is why I support hammerman in that respect .
If he has been disrespectful then I obviously can't comment as have not seen these posts you refer to.
I have to say though that I am fed up with looking at posts about people who come from Siberia and have bizarre theories about childbirth,adoption,and other weird dysfunctional hang ups thus shoving more serious Q's off the page.
So I can see hammermans point.
