in Britain the fireworks are on Guy Fawkes night... most countries have celebrations to celebrate revolutions and changes, Britain has them to celebrate the day when nothing happened and everything stayed the same...

Actually..... in Britain fireworks are set of 2 months in advance of Guy Fawkes night and continue many months afterwards...and the trend is not to aim them into the sky but through peoples letter boxes....Ahhh Britain :o(

We also have fireworks on New Years Eve nowadays..I didn't mind the year 2000 celebration, but ye gods..

I remember way back in the day when fireworks were a one night a year thing. Now it's blimmin constant. And what happened to Penny-For-The-Guy? I loved doing that, but it appears to be banned along with bonfires in the garden!

In Ibiza there are excuses for fireworks every 6 weeks - lord knows why - and they don't let them off until midnight when most good folk (ahem - coughs discreetly) are tucked up in their beds. Bl00dy noisy the damn things are an' all. Are we moaning now on this thread??? I love a good moan.
