Hi firstly thanks for a great site which I use on a regular basis. I had a lower right leg amputation 6 weeks ago and wondered if there would be sufficient interest in a section for the disabled as although I have been disabled (very active though) for a few years I have suddenly been faced with a lot of questions that need answering. Thanks again. astondog

I think this would be a very good idea.

As there have been some questions about depression and illness as well recently perhaps there's a way to combine this idea and those as well if that would be appropriate as I think it's important these questions get answered seriously and without some of the 'comments' some AB undesirables are inclined to put on threads.

Nice one aston.
Yes, I agree with both of you..... a very good reason for desperately needing a sub-category now for Health which could cover questions such as yours.
All the best aston.
As much as I see your point, I feel that a separate section for one sector of society is just not right for this website. There is a topic which, although bombarded with tedious drivel, should provide the platform for you to ask your questions and receive serious replies. This category is called Body & Soul (presuming this is what your Qs will refer to). I am sorry to be harsh, but to ostracise one section of the community in my mind is not right, although I believe in diversity I also believe in inclusivity.
Octavius have you loked in there today, it is almost as bad as it was at 10 o'clock last night.
Yes dot I have, so I would actively encourage people with serious (B&S) questions to post them there so that the rubbish can be ignored.
Hi astondog, I've thought about this for a very long time, and I agree with you, but not so much a disabled section, but one for medical problems, which would encompass all.

Thanks to all for your comments, I have given this some more thought and although I can see Octavius's point after looking at the B&S site and some of the comments to questions I still think we need a seperate site but as a couple of you suggested maybe as a medical section (including a disabled helpline as some people find it hard to cope with a sudden disbility)
Thanks again astondog.
I think this would be a great idea as I work with disabled teenagers and young adults with learning difficulties and there are always hints and tips that you have learned that you can pass on to others
sorry meant to say I work with disabled and able-bodied
