Hi ED, do you think it might be an idea to make it possible for ABers - who want to have a private discussion with other ABers - to give out their email addresses or msn messenger addresses WITHOUT it having to be in public view? I know that some complain about 'private'stuff being woven into threads, i.e. threads being highjacked by two individuals. This might be a way of sorting this problem. It would also allow people who are becoming friends on here to communicate privately outside the AB. Anyone think this might be a good idea?

i do know that a personal messaging facility is already being developed for the site and this will infact meet the needs of those abers wishing to communicate privately.

You have to watch the bots that trawl sites and take addresses to send junk mail to. The only way to safely give info would be to ask Ed to act as the middle man and pass on an addy and I think Ed is busy enough.

If you were on hotmail Carakeel then you could post your address as carakeel.at.hotmail.dot.com which gets round the bots but probably leaves yoiu wide open to many people contacting you.
