The news section seems to be predominantly full of racists and counter racists. Usually the same halfwits chasing their tails everyday. It is very boring. Please Miss AB editor, could you consign them to a subsection,

Sorry Gromit I disagree. Because what you are actually saying is "Please could you partition off anybody whose views I don't like"

These are very important News issues not a racist backwater.

Ahhh but whiffey I can see Gromits point...
Ah but Pippa I regularly see you on just those threads lol...
I certainly do not visit 'just' those threads, whiffster...and I am with you in the sense that I do not post venomous comments.

I am all for debate, but some of those posts are foul.
Pippa I meant 'just' in the sense of 'precisely'.

Life is packed with foulness, each of which has an equivalent vote to the rest of us, which is why it is important that all views are heard, however badly expressed.

Hello whiffey,
It's not other peoples' views I don't like, it's the repetition. It's getting a bit like 'Questiontime' on the telly where you know exactly what the Labour, Tory and Lib bods say before they even open their mouths. It's getting like that here, the same people (whether I agree with them or not) just saying the same things all the time.
Bad choice of expression then, whiffey ;o)

I am totally open to opinions. However, the way they are expressed on here sometimes leaves little to be desired. Swearing and calling people foul names is uncalled for. You have been called some terrible names, whiff...
Hello Gromit, Pippa (again lol),

Life is very repetitive and often boring, the same old things crop up because they are of enduring importance to people. The whole Muslim debate has become overwhelming and the outcome will be critical for generations. I enjoy a bit of robust language in such discussions (but never personal attacks where the tongue has left the cheek)
Question Author
Hello whiffey,

I pop in here to be entertained, stimulated or for that great feeling of being a big head when you can answer somebodys obscure question. If it gets boring and repetitive I will do what I do when 'Questiontime' comes on - just turn it off.

If 'the outcome of the whole Muslim Debate will be critical for generations', as you say, then why do you object to your own little section.
Why should the 'muslim debate' get a special section? If they do, can I request one for catholics, god botherers and bible bashers?
Hello Gromit,

A serious point about subsections is that if there are too many the site becomes unwieldy, even impossible to navigate. I know of other sites where this is the case. The expanded tree of topics is so vast and eclectic that I just give up.
Question Author
Octavius, yeah, give every denomination its own sub-section, as long as they doesn't clutter up the news.

If the Muslim sub-section is impossible to navigate to, fantastic.
I was just thinking the same thing, Gromit.
Would the 'muslim debate' link be covered by a veil then?
Yep Octavius- unless jack Straw posted innit ;-)
Personally, I've always considered the freedom of expression an important element in our society and although, on occasion, the arguments are unpleasant and uninspired, I would hope they are not removed or consigned to a sub section. We should feel free to discuss whatever issues play on our minds at any particular moment in our lives. This year the topics are heavily swayed by the growing concern over cultural and religious difficulties and how these factors may play out in our future. Debate may well ease those tensions and it's even possible, though unlikely, that an ABer may actually have the definitive answer for us all that leads to a more satisfactory way of dealing with such conflicts in the future.
Perhaps its a veiled attempt for our jack straw to bring attention to himself to perhaps becoming Deputy Primeminister? (:o)
