I am seeing far too many jokes on questions that are serious and threads going off tangent with little asides between long term members. This might be fun for some but as AB is now a free for all with humour shared between a few of you can I just tell you that I have a very serious problem and I am scared stiff of posting it on AB now because I feel that it will be joked about and go on to be a banter about something completely different between 5-6 of the old time members. I love a joke and some questions warrant a joking reply but on many topics these days it goes off onto another subject and is often the target for a little get together between the elite as they pass the time of day under a question. Some of you refer to a poster as a different name so pity a new person coming here with a serious problem that finds their post hijacked and reads replies to other posters under a different name and can't even relate who is talking to who. I think the clique should take a step back and stop ruining posts with their crass comments and I hope the new Ed does something about it because AB exists for the benefit of the WWW and not for a few of you who feel they patrol and own/run it.........on that happy note I say goodbye to a lot of serious ABers who have tried to help (me and others) and I'll find somewhere else where there is an Ed who edits and cliques do not exist.

Hmmm, i think everyone is guilty of cracking a joke on some of the questions on here. But also, a lot of the questions warrant a joke as some of them you just couldnt make up. Its fine to say there is a clique, etc. But a lot could be said about some of the questions people ask too. I personally think the majority of questions get answered in a manner of the question asked. I ask Q's on all the different topics on here and found most of the answers very helpful.
The only section where you will probably get 'banter' would be the body and soul section, which will always go into more detail than any other topics on here, as you are asking peoples opinions on life.
I think the ed does a great job on here. From what i see people get banned, etc and it is easy to report a Q your not happy with. Also, if you look atthe amount of people that use it, then people must be content otherwise they wouldnt ask questions. Good luck in finding another site like this. You cant please everyone...

there may be a few on there who will take a serious thread and make it their own but it doesnt happen often. Ive seen you make a joke on a thread so i know you cant be against any jokes. I agree that I have a joke at times but i do try and help where i can, just like the 3 posters above me here^^^
Why not become green for a day if you are really that worried about something and see what help you get on your thread.

Zimzam, little cliques form everywhere, most recent example the BB house, ignore it, but don't just leave because of it, you might be holding the key to a question someone really needs help with!! It would be a shame to go.
There is a new ed, only started 4 days ago, lets see if they make any changes! (Other than the time-warp trick they are currently playing on us).

Yes zimzam, I have probably contributed with a few odd jokes, well I was told they were odd. But I agree that some of this sycophantism is tedious. That goes for those in B&S who use threads to talk about and discuss their discussions on MSN/emails and those who drone on about biddies and the monastery. All very dull really, but probably the highlight of their day.
