Why do people get so het up

i can only speak for myself, not all the other people, and my reasoning is this:
what is the point in having categories of everyone posts any questions where they want. I am not interested in, nor know very much about sport, for example, therefore i avoid that category. If the categories i go in were filled with sport stuff i wouldn't want to come here anymore
if you post in the right category, then you are more likely to get a useful reply, for example, people who know stuff about law tend to hang out in the law category (ie buenchennio, ethel, stu dent)
if everybody posts all assorted stuff in body and soul, for example then the front page of that topic moves very quickly, and while you CAN look at subsequent pages, i dont think people tnd to, therefore a corrctly asked question in the right category might move off the page so fast it dosent get the "air time" and therefore any replies.
And lastly, its just better that way for the pedants/obsessive compulsives amongst us!

ha ha ha bednobs! very well put! I tend not to get 'het-up' about it but as you say, if you do put it in the right category.......your more likely to get a sensible answer - rather than some d*** head telling you to F off for no apparent reason, i think Fee_b77 the reason is that people on B&S tend to know each other and are more pally so its used a lot more frequently, therefore you are likely to get a QUICKER answer if nothing else? What DOES annoy me (but not in a fascist way lol) is when the same Q comes up time after time especially in Adverts...ie: whats the song for Orange?Tmobile?O2 over and over they should CHECK whether someone has already asked the Q but are too damn lazy i guess? ; )

Fee you are quite right. Also there is nothing more annoying than when people say things like "This is the third time this week somebody has asked that" or worse still give a link to a similar question. Who cares? If you know the answer just post it!!

Also there is a foul old bitter hag on here who constantly posts "Where is the question" or "This is in the wrong category" etc then continues to post her own brand of unamusing questions expecting a reply.

As you say, people need to lighten up, or simply leave.

oh dear, that's not me you're talking about is it?? the first half sounds like me, but not the second half! I always put links to answers because those are answers i dont know are true of my own accord, and i dont want to make it seem like i know everything and take credit for other people knowing things

also, i dont really understand why you say lighten up or leave. Are you implying there is no room for different views? Why is it superior to not care about the catagories than caring about the catgories? Its like my husband hates it when i squeeze the toothpaste from the middle, but i hate it when he squeezes it from the end. Neithr of us are right are we? neither of us has the moral highground, we just like what we like ... same for categories i think .maybe people who get all het up about people caring about the catagories should lighten up??

because questions in the wrong category push questions that are in the right category off the page, sometimes before they've got an answer.
