Just came back from the Jokes section, and there's a joke full of "&Quot"s. I realize it's supposed to be "&Quote", but why do many people do that. Don't most keyboards have quotation marks on them?.......Anyway, couldn't be bothered reading the joke.

They probably do use the quotation marks, it's just that answerbank for some reason does" & quote". I've just used them there, lets see what happens.
Yes i noticed that also, "it does get on your nerves".
if you use quotation marks in a question it replaces them with "e - if you use it in an answer it doesn't.
Yes, it's very annoying isn't it ?

I think it's something to do with this -

The " entity was mistakenly omitted from the HTML 3.2 specification. While use of " generates error reports when validating against 3.2, browsers have continued to recognize the entity and its use is generally safe (sticklers may wish to use " instead). The omission has been corrected in the HTML 4.0 specification.

I'll go and get a definitive answer from the Technology/Internet section.
People can use the single quotation mark on the same key as the @.
