As this site is mainly used by God fearing Christian people, should we now have a chaplain?
The obvious choice, must be the VillageVicar, he has so much compassion and understanding.
Could we also have a little prayer, that you must acknowledge, before signing in, as a mark of our faith.
I realise that some people, probably the heathens will object to this, but where there is no faith, there is no reason.

Incidentally, why are people described as "god-fearing". If god is a benevolent being, why be afraid of him?

Cambus: My goodness, I was surprised to read this! Whilst I�m deeply honoured by your kind comments, I certainly am not deserving of such accolades. My contributions are no more valuable and no less than those of others.

I think I would be disappointed if this site were only omni-faithed. That would be paramount to owning a garden that features only one variety of flowers and only one colour. For my own growth, (both socially and spiritually), I need diversity. I welcome everyone�s sincere views. In fact, in the absence of such variety, talents, and life experiences, I would imagine the AB site could not be what it is.

The site fascinates me in that it not only serves as a functional and non-biased information source, it also, clearly, provides safe-harbouring for a number of people. Those people, for whatever reason, find their fellow contributors to represent, in many ways, an extended family. The root of the word �exclusive� is exclude. Hence I would never wish to exclude anyone from the ability and right to share their views.

B00, Mr. Minter seems to be a fine upstanding gentleman and has also served his country well, this is only to be expected, from the officer class.
He would be an excellent choice to lead us in prayer and to leave us with his thought for the day.

I'm not Christian, nor Muslim, nor Hebrew, Hindu, Taoist, Buddhist, nor Pastafarian, and I have a very strong faith, and am glad and proud to be called a Heathen. I admire Fr Bill tremenduously, and have yet to find a post that I'd overly disagree with. Would I like to be chaplained by him? Possibly yes, but probably no.

It may not suit your ideas, and I should probably know better than to try engage anyone who jumps to the conclusion that non-Christians are ready to issue fatwahs, but I'm happy to have discussion with anyone on here, regardless of creed. Actually, I'm more likely to do so if their views differ from mine. This site's users are usually proudly secular, let's leave it so.

Whickerman: I�m always impressed by your balanced thoughts. I think (hope) you and others have noticed that whilst I may allude to my spirituality, I do not make comments that deliberately segue into my faith. The secularism of AB is part of what adds to its unique patina. Having said this, I�m also comfortable in saying that the contributions each of us makes (whether it�s perceived that way or not) must surely be reflective of who we are, what our gained talents are and what our life-experiences have been. Otherwise, we would be incapable of imparting knowledge of substance to others.

I gather some of tonight�s threads have been nothing more than gentle play. And whilst I�ve indeed been honoured, I�m certain no one was being serious in their suggestions.

As you know, I�m a newcomer here. I still haven�t quite �tweaked� the precise flavours of the entire site. But I will say, it has been a wealth of inspiration for a homily and I�m sure several to come.
