I've read a fair few threads now where someone's criticised for giving sometimes good and sometimes bad advice, just because they haven't got children or a michelin star.
Parenting and all it entails is a fraught experience, and all I can go on are the pleasures and ordeals of my two brothers and numerous friends who are parents. Because I haven't got children (through choice) I never post anything in the parenting/pregnancy sections. I'm interested, but all I can offer is second hand advice. I'm not qualified, so I keep quiet. In life I am trusted with my nephews, nieces and godchildren and am never patronised or accused of lacking feeling or knowledge. I adore children, but have never wanted my own. I've witnessed (at close hand) the effects of divorce and the upset that the CSA brings. I'm just not prepared to air my friends and family members private business on a website.
Any section where real human emotion is involved is bound to end up with arguments. Bereavement is a classic example. Pain is so deep and unresolved that there has to be some outlet.
I wish everybody could post a serious reply and not be attacked or ridiculed for it. It's just not the way on here sometimes.
It's a Q and A site at the end of the day, so people should make their own minds up where they decide to put their views/experiences across.
