... to Chatterbank anymore or can AB-ED shut it down as another welcomed but failed attempt to give people a place to chat, and concentrate on bringing the Q&A theme of the site back to a decent quality.
All Chatterbank is doing is ruining the entire site and turning people away from using much of its Q&A offerings and go towards other sites such as Yahoo Answers.
There are far fewer responsible questions and fewer answers nowadays than there was 12 months ago and its been declining rapidly since the Chatterbank was re-born (or re-gurgitated more like).
I'm often asked for a good site to ask questions about techincal support etc, and in recent years i always referred to this one, recently tho it has become so embarrasing to mention going to a place where rampant cloning of usernames, constant disruption and aggresive behavior, mixed with inane ramblings that are far removed from anything in real life and instead appears written by someone that has spent the past 20 years smoking cannabis all day long, that i refuse to even mention being associated with the place!
The original version of Chatterbank, although not without problem, was a pretty good place to unwind or let off steam... but Mk2 of it is now very much rated as a Black Mark by everyone that visits it or ever used it. The fact only about 10 - 20 names regularly post on it shows how there is a huge lack of interest from most people.

And if anyone gets defensive over Chatterbank.... look back over the past few weeks of posts and you will see your only getting protective over an online cesspit where you believe you have friends, but really cant trust whether you are talking to who you think you are, and just making the rest of the

An addendum -its true it spills over into 'safe' forums as well and dont I know it after being cloned.
Nothing will be done cos as weeal says it will just go into B & S -it shpuld have a reprt answer facility -that in itself would solve most of the problems -a simple thing but obiously in so far as ABEd has managed to post Q's today she cant implement a simple tool which was there before.

And Drisgirl.... you have a lot of great online friends, i know that, but would you trust any of your online friends usernames on Chatterbank? It was only on Pg 2 that you doubted your friend from years back being who he said he was and resulted in you having to text to confirm.... proof again that you CAN have online friends, but Chatterbank doesnt help you to have them!
And for referring to another site thats moderated??? No thanks, rather sell my teeth than allow any of the troublemakers on this site to head there thanks!

Twigs -I dont trust anyone on here anymore which is a great pity -that came directly from logging on on Saturday and seeing all the grotesque threads which i had posted.I felt sick to the pit of my stomach -believe it or not.Its a pity because I now dont know who is who and as you said I have great pals who i made from Froggers days and they are now fantastic pals -nothing to do with on/off line at all.
The reason i challenged said user was because it wasnt his usual MO-I now know differently !!!.I rarely go on now -sporadic now.

This is a never-ending discussion, all the usual points have already been made. CB of a couple of years ago, the one that was shut down, was a lot classier than this current one, which suffers from so much dross from a small handful of drivelling bores (yes, I suppose I am one as well). This site needs impudent and sparkling Joshies and Ruskies.
On the plus side, there is minimal moderation, so enjoy the freedom. You could end up on a site like C-------E where up-the-ar$e moderators monitor your every post, and if you slip, you incur a "24-hour posting ban" for a "Category A" offence, all the way up to the devastating "Permabann", each of course accompanied by 3,4,5 long long paragraphs of explanation. Still, the site is thriving, and this one seems to be dead.
Don't knock it too much, you'll miss it when it's gone.

Said it before, will say it again, the lunatics have taken over the asylum (CB).
We have a choice- like or lump it. I've taken to largely lumping it, I don't frequent it nowhere near as much as I used to. I have to agree with Dotty. A small minority and their psychophants make CB at night nausiating reading, and downright embarrassing.

BOO -sorry its been said before -I dont go on much at nights in fact very rarely but the threads must be gone in the morning and for the life of me I seriously cant see who the small minority and their sychophants are.Do they cause a load of bother?If not then that shouldnt bother anyone.Horses for courses !

Ive reduced my time on ab/cb for no other reason than im bored.
There are the same folk as have been here my last 2 years.
Theres no difference and to calll for cb to be removed seems to me simply an exercise to kickup dust and cause debate leading to arguement leading to exactly what is being complained about.
So this post would appear to be more pointless than cb.
But im sure many will take much from this and spout forth a handful of reasons to remove it.
But if its removed those same people will be moaning about the after effects when body and soul is then reinhabited and other sections spoiled.This is infact a waste of time even contemplating debate because unless youre talking about shutting down ab then theres absolutely no point closing cb .On the contrary theres more to be said for keeping cb than getting rid of it.But im sure longer standing members than myself with inflated egos and an air of selfimportance will say they know better.Well they would say that wouldnt they ?

Getting rid of chatterbank will only send posters to Body and soul, if you get rid of body and soul people will keep jumoing to other topics and "setting up home"
what the site really needs is moderating, the report post button needs reinstating and the Editor needs to take action on cloners and abusive posts.
you cannot blame the topic area or indeed the trolls!, its a bit like wayward kids, you have to go to the source of control which is the AB editor, they have a responsibility to the posters here to keep the site flowing as their terms and conditions state, people abusing the rules should be banned and abusive posts should be deleted.
They have the power!
