Don't rely on your memory legend, post the links.
Clock's ticking, tick tock tick tock.
Have to disagree with Salla and Jayne on this one yet again...sorry ladies...

Yes you can argue there are far worse sites that a child/young teen can access, however this site has always maintained that its a "family" site, and as such we should be able to let our children browse it safely.

I don't mind innuendos personally, I should imagine that the vast majority of those would go 'whooooosh' over a youngster's head anyway. It's the blatent 'in ya face' sexually explicit material which I find offensive, and should have no place on here.

I'm not a prude (well, ok maybe I am a little bit) but there's a time and a place for smut, swearing and downright crude material- I don't believe this forum is it.
If any teenie had such a dull cyber existence that they ended up on AnswerBank, in the CB section, then they could do with some entertainment.

However, they are unlikely to learn anything new here.

What might rub off on them is the high incidence of bad grammatical habits, poor spellings, and atrocious punctuation.

(Note the deliberate insertion of an "Oxford comma" before the final "and", to illustrate a correct, but frequently misunderstood, structure of the previous paragraph).
Stand by my earlier posts .
ALL BEEN REMOVED BECAUSE SAID POSTERS WERE ABUSIVE AND IN ONE OF THEMS CASES WAS ALSO POSTING NAMES AND ADDRESSES OF USERS ON HERE.

No links possible , but fresh in most folks memories im sure .

DTH ?

If not im merely agreeing with the curvy lady .

If you can't post the links legolard, then it is nothing more than hearsay, despite your impressive and no doubt deeply indignant BLOCK CAPITALS.

So, links please?

im off to the bee shoppe and shall sink a flaggon or two whilst thinking of your bountious bosom
No one mentioned anything about a young teen being bored. And to be perfectly honest I'd be mightily annoyed if my child was being entertained if they stumbled across CB. I'm sure many schoolchildren access Answerbank through Googling homework questions. Can anyone honestly say they'd be chuffed if their child did that and stumbled across the smuttier stuff that can be found on CB?
If a child doing their homework is doing research by opening threads on a post called "Chatter" Bank, then that child is not really looking for useful information.

That child is looking for salacious curiosities.

And that child will go back to Google, and will type in a few juicy words, and will be directed to those salacious curiosities.

It sounds like too mant families are fobbing off their parental homework responsibilities by plonking their children in front of computers, hoping they will get on with it, and going off to watch the telly.
You are nicked, 36mph in a 30mph zone.

But officer, everybody else was speeding!

Sorry, that is no defence.
Let's stop being hypothetical, and look for genuine examples.

How about posting links to (say) five threads from ChatterBank where the title of the thread might have prompted this hypothetical homework-doing child to open the thread, and which then turned out to contain inappropriate posts.

Real examples to support the "children doing research" argument.
You are nicked, using language likely to offend.

But officer, the empirical evidence shows that nobody heard the language except for persons who had specifically been hoping to hear it, and who were therefore not going to be offended!

Sorry, that IS a defence !!
My last point on this as I see i'm obviously in a minority on this and I can't be bothered to argue it much further.

My whole argument is that if there was no salacious gossip on CB for youngsters to read then surely that's for the better? Why provide more smut on a forum where it's not needed? Yes they can bog off elsewhere to get their jollies but least I'd rather they did that than know they got it from here and more importantly got it from anything I might have said or shown pictures of.
If any minor got anything off here, they would keep really quiet about it.

Even as a non parent, I know that playground street cred does not include stuff that you found on a chat site for middle aged grown ups.

That would be social suicide for any cool kid.
No it is not a defence. What you are saying is that it is ok for you to post smut and innuendo on the grounds that kids are unlikely to read it.

Why not do it on MSN, why do it on here? It doesn't suddenly become a little private club at night, although judging by the deplorably inane quality of late-night posting it would appear that a little group of posters thinks that they have "the place all to themselves" and can say what they like.

Do it on MSN.
Incidentally ...

"anything I might have said or shown pictures of"

Ending a sentence with a preposition. That's the sort of thing that children should not see if they are doing homework.

Kids ... if you're reading this, try ..

"... anything I might have said, or of which I might have shown pictures."
Kids ...

"Why not do it on MSN, why do it on here?"

This contains two questions. If you are doing your homework, you should punctuate it like this:

Why not do it on MSN? Why do it on here?

DTH?
Well, it was fun arguing guys.

I'm off back to CB.

Love you all ...

No it was a double composite question. If you want to play a grammatical syntactical game with me, go ahead, it's better than smut.
i agree with gormless inasmuch as why people feel the need too put adult content on this website when they can chat on msn or yahoo or whatnot. Re the original query, people get bannd for no good reason bt others are allowed back up accounts so can carry on whr they left off, as they need too be on here or else they get palpitations, stress, panic attacks etc. Well thats what it seems like haha!
