will the technical team be able to stop people like knobby registering loads of green names to pretend he is actually defending us against the onslaught of abusive trolls? I am hoping it will, I feel that it will then cascade down through the chatterbank members and those who have felt the need to create a green name to respond to knobby's abuse anonymously (unlike myself who has not felt it necessary to do that, i am quite content with responding to him in this name , especially when he calls me a cu** when i was not even online) will no longer have the need to do that and the whole site will settle down and be quite pleasant.

Unless of course the anarchists amongst us prefer that there is always the slight possibility that someone will come on here and start a row, in which case the site would continue to be dominated by brain dead morons with time on their hands and a prolific supply of abusive and offensive posts.
In all the years of being on AB I have never felt there has been such a group of people that delight so much in abusing and intimidating other users the way knobby and his crew do, it is spoiling the site and whereas some people may jump on this thread and try to imply that i am being confrontational and breaking Site Rules, I would retaliate strongly by responding with the reasonaed argument that I am allowed to debate the issue in a considered and analytical manner. The fact that knobby is the person I am directly aiming this post at is neither here nor there, as he quite clearly has tried to goad and bully and push me into a series of arguments, which in the main I have ignored.

There are others who may try to refer to comments I made about Knobby';s 'wife', which I have seen referred to on several occasions by varoius regulars and greenies, what has happened with that situation is that knobby has distracted people from the original reason I was feeling so pushed into a corner by knobby, which was of course his nasty vile posts regarding the baby my son'd GF miscarried a feww weeks before the aforementioned post about his wife. Conveniently people have been forgetting that knobby has continually abused me on here since the very first night he joined, when he first registered and was still a greenie himself, (in his very first id on here) he actually was so offensive and abusive that i pulled him up sharply and he copmmenced to make nasty comments and wisheing that my plane crashed (i was about to go on holiday at the time). Despite dozens of user names since, he has always found the time to seek me out on here and make the most disgusting remarks, hence he is continually banned.

Again, some supporters of knobby may refer back to my remarks about his 'wife', I would respond by suggestinmg that if the ed has seen fit to ban all his previous names, yet i have never been banned (except by a technical hick up the other week) then that speaks volumes.
Sorry to bore you on a lovely easter sunday, but I feel better myself for having bothered to write this out, any negative response, which is expected i suppose, will be replied to with civility and constructive argument, not abuse. Oh and just to try to cover all the bases here, I have written this in my own time on my own computer using my own ISP and my own electric, anyone who feels i have wasted any of those need not respond as their comment would be wholy predictable and irrelevent.

It is an old argument that keeps reappearing because people like knobby continue to use the site the way they do, and I care as I enjoy using CB and always have, and enjoy using AB as a whole, unlike yourself i post in many categories and see the purpose of AB is far more than just a chat room.
If indeed the new 3.0 will mean members IP addresses are banned if they break the Site Rules persistently that will mean knobby will have to move providers, how easy is that? very easy, i do not feel there is a simple solution, only people like knobby can stop it by stopping being how he is.

IP banning is eminently suitable for private sites (e.g. Cerescape) where the owner doesn't need to pay too much attention to other interests. However, IP banning has serious disadvantages, much discussed on here. If AB started using it, I think it would be all downhill from there.

I do wonder how you grown men can seriously exist outside of CB, your tactic of bullying and goading and abuse works to the successful point where a person like me retaliates in kind and suddenly you start bleating like lambs snatched from their mummy. Then you regurgitate all negative responses made to you to make sure anyone reading feels you are the actual victims, and then the original instigation and abuse YOU originated is conveniently forgotten.
