no chatterbank questions in recent posts.

seeing as chatterbank questions are normals goodmorning or isnt the weather lovely, shouldnt the recent posts box not include such chitchat, and allow it to show serious questions that are of greater importance.

what about the same for jokes as they are only for peoples amusement and not serious questions.

Chatterbank is just for that, chitchat, if you don't like it just keep to the subjects that interest you, personally I like chatterbank the way it is.

chatterbanks nice and friendly but does not discuss the most important things so i'm saying keep it and the jokes section but allow important questions to show in the recent posts box.

besides, when I go to other topic area's I reply to a lot of questions that I have not seen via recent posts, most people have favourite topic area's that they visit, most weekends are monopolised by quizzes and puzzles...should they be banned too as they dont interest me personally?

The good morning threads are part of CB as much as any other thread , they're one of the few polite and friendly threads you can rely on , and a good start on the recent posts line-up .

I think it's not a bad idea, but would be better if the recent posts could be weighted towards the areas (and similar) topics) that users regularly post in.

Who is to say what is more important? there is a danger of intellectual snobbery with your suggestion. AnswerBank is more democratic and diverse than that.

In my opinion, it's not that the content on CB is less important than other areas, just that the sheer volume of answers on this section does mean it tends to dominate the 'recent posts' box and questions in other topics may be missed as a result.
I don't think the same applies to jokes because the joke section isn't as widely used as CB.

Perhaps another solution would be to enlarge the 'recent posts' to show 8 or even 10 at a time - but I don't think the Ed would do that, unfortunately, as it would cut into his advertising space.

I get fed up seeing the recent posts box filled with quizzes and puzzles questions.I don't think that they should be removed though.
If you want to see what has been posted in a section you frequent more often, then just go to that section and look.

Bad idea. Some of us are all over this site, RESPONDING to something, be it a question or a hatterbank topic. Unless we knew what had been posted, how could we respond.

well before the recent post box was added,(about 18 mths ago) we managed, and noone felt left out or hassled or confused. the recent post box just makes us all lazy IMO lol
