What's up with the Ed?

Has anyone noticed a change in the Ed's behaviour beside me? Up until the back end of last week he (or maybe she) was harrassed, humourous, actually joined in the last time I asked how we all were today, posted on my "dark secrets" thread and generally behaved like a "real person" Now we have what appears to be random banning and editing and a vague generic response to peoples' questions.

Ed? are you all right? Is the job or your boss getting you down? LIke it or not you are a part of the community here so If something is wrong, please tell us...or (strange thought) have you been taken over by an artificial intelligence????

I now await the banning of this question

woofgang - we'll probably all get banned now, but I have to agree -  there does appear to have been a change of attitude & professionalism just lately. I've noticed an "if you don't like it - tough" situation & I thought it was just me, but now realise it isn't!

I hope not! I don't answer as much as some of the other regulars, but I have noticed the changes in the Ed lately - it seems like they are a different person... I'm with natalie - it's definitely aliens.

I'm wondering if the regular Ed is away..... 

I asked the question about ABank going to the dogs a while ago, which did start a fierce debate, but when the Ed replied he/she commented that they had been away for a couple of day and other staff had done the editing.....

Maybe it is the case at the moment, and before anybody has a go at me this is just a theory!! 

 

No doubt the editor will make his/her comments in due course!!

ezapf made a very valid point on the question 'Banned again' (just below this one). It may have nothing to do with the editor...

Could it be that perhaps another user/s is 'policing' the site and reporting every Q or A that they consider does not comply with the terms and conditions of using the site?

 

It might explain some of the inconsistancies lately.

Fair point lindy loo, except that the ed is the moderator. We bring things to his/her attention, bu tinterpretation of site policy is up to him/her. Sometimes (s)he agrees with us and sometimes not

I've just looked in animals and nature and body and soul. In both the ed has posted a post (tautology) reiterating the warning at the top of the category. I smell lawyers

The tautology is just a reminder that a vet or doctor should be consulted for medical problems in case poeople haven't read the one at the top of the page.

It AB's way covering their backs against any wrong advice being given by users.

Sorry lindy loo, that's what i meant, the Umm "back" covering is protection against litigation and escalations like these tend to be instigated by a company's legal department

With regard to the messages on Body & Soul and Animals & Nature - the idea is to get the message across as quickly and effectively as possible: When medical or similar matters are raised, it is always best to consult a professional.

There's no question that any thread is edited or banned just because it gets reported. It gets moderated faster. The decision remains ours. (Oh, and I'm still harrassed.)
