Occasionly we want to identify something such as a plant but words alone are not enough . How can we submit a picture somewhere so that subscribers can see it and maybe answer the question ?

If you upload it to a site like Photobucket, then that provides a direct link which you can include in a posting here e.g. http://i965.photobucket.com/albums/ae136/SpodoC/tumbleweed.jpg

As Jumbuck suggests, the usual way for questioners to provide a picture is to put it on a picture-hosting website. The most popular site (with AB users) is Tinypic because it allows you to upload a single photograph, and create a link to it, without having to sign up to any of the 'album-based' picture hosting websites:
