Zero Tolerance
I would be more than happy to see the removal of the increasingly unseemly AB Suggestions category altogether. If people have genuinely good ideas, I reckon they should just email an ideas@... address.
AB will no doubt continue along quite happily whether some members boycott the site or not. People come and go all the time. Members don't own the site and they don't pay for a service. I find all this moaning cringeworthy... and if I was the Ed and my remit was clear, I'd be operating a zero tolerance policy by now.
Just dip in and out of AB, but don't act like your life depends on it. It is a great Q&A site. And it's free. Yay.

Those who voluntarily take time and care to answer questions, help people etc must be able to do so without expecting anything in return - from anyone. If people can't do that, then maybe they should take up such paid work in real life.
In order to provide what certain people seem to expect from this site, AB would additionally have to employ some kind of social worker to provide full-time attention to those constantly whining, expecting/demanding apologies, explanations, editorial sackings, general hand-holding etc and to discourage them from reacting to any unexpected occurrence with a public tantrum or personally abusing individuals who don't hold the same view as them.
There are bound to be numerous reasons why posts might disappear, some obvious, some not so, and some undoubtedly due to the fact that software is not infallible. One must be able to accept that life's not fair and nothing's perfect.
My suggestion was merely to remove the vehicle for the public posting of such increasingly undignified responses to that.
Hear hear Elfin.
moonraker goes on about so called "regulars". Who are these people? How many users has this site? Does it matter to us? No it doesn't.
We use this site because we want to, irrespective of the Editorial policy. We just get on with helping other people out. I've been on this site for over 2 years and there have always been moaners about the sites decline. They've gone and Answerbank is still here and hopefully I will still be here for a while yet.
Without taking sides here, can I add thanks to all who care about the site and thanks to all who contribute answers (and questions!)
As for Elfin's initial question: this category is extemely useful as a way of guaging user reactions and requests, notwithstanding the current focus on how useless and evil I am. And everyone can (and many do) use the 'Contact Us' form at the foot of every page to speak directly!
