When a poster has had their questions answered (I know about the bit you click on to the right of the question when you 'have an answer') could the poster be given the opportunity to delete their own posts?  It would then free up space for people that still need answers and prevent them from being dropped over the page.

Know what you mean, Nat, but isn't this a resource for everyone........?  People could be scanning the questions and see one answered that they might be interested in.  If everyone deleted posts that they had the answer for, this would be DontKnowTheAnswerbank!!

I can see both sides to this one. Let me ponder it for some time longer...

Thanks Ed :o)

Ewand, the question would have an answer so they can look in the archive for it and a question can only have so many answers.

I don't mean totally delete it from the site.

Thats fair enough, and my comment was based around the assumption of deleting from the entire site..........I definately see value in your suggestion, and it would be good to give the unanswered questions more opportunity to be answered, though I fear it may increase the amount of duplicate posts........certainly if a question is topical (for example a recent advert, or dare I say it, Marlboro quiz) I would hope that some repeat posting is saved by the scanning of the recently answered questions list........if answered questions were removed, then there is the possibility of reposting.......

I see.  I guess it would cause more duplicates.  Oh well it was my first suggestion  :o)
And its a good one.........          :)
If you are saying that you don't want to delete it from the site completely, then I don't understand what you are suggesting.

They'd go into an archive, if you deleted them completely there'd be no point as they'd never be able to be referred to again.  However, if you could just transfer them to the archive then more space would be left for new questions.  As Ewand points out, there would be far more duplicates if that happened.
Okay, then is there a way to stop the emails that you get when someone answers? My latest question has been answered, and I keep getting emails....anyone know of a way to stop them, since we can't delete the question?
