I feel that Answerbank has a problem with communication and transparency in the area of deletions.   Scarlett's My Profile tells her that one of her questions has been banned.  Actually that merely means that AB Ed has deleted it from one category and reposted it in another.  Other people have questions they feel have been unreasonably removed.  The system doesn't provide a reason and they do not understand why they have been banned.

The label "Banned" is often misleading and, dare I say it, unnecessarily insulting.  Could we have a "Deleted" label which includes the reason for removal, using the existing categories Duplicate answer/question, irrelevant answer, etc. plus an extra one to say "Moved to different category"?  It could perhaps be done by the software, to save AB Ed from yet another wearisome chore.  It would save many people's feelings.  Kill them with kindness, please.

Why dont they just say it was "moved" and not "banned"?
Marsh - a few months back, I asked on Suggestions if Banned couldn't be replaced with Deleted. I cannot for the life of me, see why it has not yet been changed to something more milder.
I seem to have had an answer banned too. It would be nice if we could access that information to find out what was banned and why.
Don't know if you are aware, but you can find your 'own' banned Q/A under 'My Details' & the drop down lists.
P.S. My Details - then My Profile - then the drop down lists.
I agree that it should be "deleted" and not "banned".  Quite a lot of my "banned" answers are merely ones which have responded to other answers which were irrelevant or suspicious, and are therefore simply irrelevant to the question after the deletion of the original answer to which I was responding.  Thus "deleted" would make much more sense in many cases than "banned" (which implies naughtiness).  I am surprised that it has not been changed already.
Thanks bernardo - not only did I previously post the Q on suggestions, requesting 'deleted' rather than 'banned', I also e-mailed AB Ed at the same time, but all to no avail. It seems to be rattling a lot of people's cages lately, so perhaps he/she will look into actually changing it soon??

Hi Smudge.  I wasn't trying to imply that "Deleted" not "Banned" was my idea.  You may remember my supporting you either when you proposed it or at a later resurgence.  I can't tell which because My Profile is playing up.

That's okay Marsh, I honestly didn't think that for one moment. Let's hope AB Ed will do something about it soon though - if only for peace & harmony!

Happy Christmas & New Year 2005.
