How do you close a question?

I have posted a question and wished to discontinue it as in all honesty it was a non quiz qery in Q&P. However I cannot find any way to do this, but am having a senior evening according to some (me included)LOL

Somewhere near the question header, it will say, "close this thread". Click on that.

its not there any-more it used to be in the right hand corner of the page.

No matter someone has either reported it or the ed has removed it now anyway, so all is well and my naughty tally goes up.

that's a bit of a backward step, isn't it? Perhaps there's been a problem with people asking offensive questions then stopping people picking up on it.... but I'm sure that wasn't the case with yours, mamya...

That would be because when they put 'post an answer' at the bottom even if the question was closed you still answer it.
