job and careers - concerns
6 Answers
Firstly I would like to say how much I enjoy reading the questions and answers from answerbankers. However, I am a little concerned over the jobs and careers section of the answerbank.
People are asking serious questions regarding their future career and options which are available to them. I am concerned that maybe some of the answers are giving in-correct information and advice.
Even though I would value people opinion especially if there are currently have first had experience of an industry, I have had to study for a number of years to become a qualified careers adviser .
May I therefore suggest that like money and finance, that you add a note informing people that they should seek professional advice if they need to make important decisions about their career and that the advice given in the Answerbank is personal opinions only.

I work in the Recruitment industry and have done for 15 years, but I would not feel comfortable giving advice to others on such a subject without knowing the person and his / her situation first. Often when I meet people for the first time (out of working hours), I am asked what I do for a living. When I tell them, I get asked all manner of questions relating to their career and what I think they should do. It's a bit like telling someone your'e a doctor....."ohhh are you? Well I've got this pain........"
In theory, yes I would love to spend time reading the questions and helping our fellow answerbankers.. however, due to time factors, a lack of my own PC there are often days when I cant log onto the answerbank site. I would hate to think that people would rely on my answers and as such I can only stress stongly that if people need advise they could seek professional careers guidance. However, I will do what I can...
