Most of today's unusually large and offensive supply have been suspended as soon as they hit the ground, either by moderators or by robots that have detected overposting. However, their posts remain visible, clearly annoying many people, including me. So my suggestion is that when a poster is suspended - by mods or robots - all his posts should automatically vanish. The Ed can of course restore them any time he sees fit. But my guess is that if their posts swiftly disappeared, they'd soon lose interest in posting them and go back to playing Tetris.

well, serious suggestions here, so see if the Ed has anything to say in the morning.
Prudie... I agreed with you at the time and still think there is merit in your suggestion.

Naz.. You have an excellent idea.

Ron.
I did suggest it in the thread in Ed's Blog, so we'll see.
Where's the Billy Goats Gruff when they're needed?
I think he just logged on and zapped them, Sandy!!!
Good.
Did you use that system on the website you used to run Naz?
A prevention is better than a cure ...http://www.phoneconfirm.com/
The reason they are coming on here is because The SportsAnswerBank site will not allow new members to join

We are sorry but currently we are not allowing any more sign ups, due to forum abuse.

...used to?

I use this method, and it works very well ...http://tinyurl.com/y9vmlwv ... zero tolerance.

''Don't start no sh1t, won't be no sh1t" ... simples. :-)
... and Moderators you can trust when you're not around are equally important ...
Anyone know how you become a moderator?
Maybe there could be two options for moderators..
1. suspend only (eg for those who just need to calm down)
2. suspend+remove (for the really bad stuff/trolls)?
Good question tigerblue10.

Perhaps we need a few more Moderators. If it's a matter of nominations for such positions, I can think of a few names which I would put forward.

Ron.
Me too Ron.
The problem with the £5.00 registration fee, well apart from folks like me too tight to pay it, is that we'd lose the vast majority of AB's users. Whilst CB is busy, it's the rest of AB which really keeps the site ticking over, and the rest of AB is where the "one stoppers", the folk who just come on to ask one question, get a reply and are never seen or heard from again.

Without those people, the site would become stale, full of us regulars asking the same old boring stuff.
Oh, so you're paying for it then Naz? http://www.phoneconfirm.com/Guest/Prices.aspx

Would you have given your phone number to ask a Quiz or Puzzle question? It puts up a barrier to every normal browser who wishes to become a user - this is something we're trying to avoid. You seem to be forgetting that there is more to AB than CB!

Jno, the moderator tools will be upgraded as soon as we get time. It is in the current spec - we just need our techies back from other projects!

All the best,

Spare Ed
Personally I'm going to look at yesterday as a blip in the normal smooth running of things. I'm sure the Ed will come up with a fix.
Thanks Craft - that is what it is after all.
