News vs. Chatterbank

Ed, can you suggest a reason why a thread that turns into a punch-up in Chatterbank is, for the most part, removed, yet endless similar threads in News are allowed to remain?

AOG gives Ed bj's and is therefore allowed to say what he likes in NEWS. Whereas in CB we are not tarts.

Umm is pretty close to the mark actually.
The News section is about conflict, so there is a little more leniency - you can't talk about politics without an argument (also see: religion).
Also, the punch-ups in CB tend to be more personal (rather than "You're a yoghurt knitting communist" "You're a jack-boot polishing fascist" etc).
Often "unsavoury" threads & comments are left alone because more reasonable ABer's tend to make considered and rational arguments - restoring the balance.

Ok, how is this ... http://www.theanswerb...s/Question976594.html ... about healthy debate?
it's one bitter old racist goading the rest of the AB members into an argument ... ableit very successfully. It's absolutely nothing to do with the link in the OP
