Ed, can you suggest a reason why a thread that turns into a punch-up in Chatterbank is, for the most part, removed, yet endless similar threads in News are allowed to remain?

Jus' wond'rin' ...

AOG gives Ed bj's and is therefore allowed to say what he likes in NEWS. Whereas in CB we are not tarts.

It's a punch up in CB....it's debate in news.

botox to you too :-)

I mean it in the way that the subject people are arguing about in CB tend to be more personal.

"you smell"

"No, you smell"

versus ...

''Youre a racist futhamucker"

I can see how that's allowed to continue ... errm ... NOOOOT!
Some do get out of hand...but most of the answers are sensible answers to the question. Whereas in CB most of the answers are probably not worth keeping...

you smell
Umm is pretty close to the mark actually.

The News section is about conflict, so there is a little more leniency - you can't talk about politics without an argument (also see: religion).

Also, the punch-ups in CB tend to be more personal (rather than "You're a yoghurt knitting communist" "You're a jack-boot polishing fascist" etc).

Often "unsavoury" threads & comments are left alone because more reasonable ABer's tend to make considered and rational arguments - restoring the balance.

I was just wondering that...hahaha.
If the news section didn't have users challenging each other's belief's it would be a bit dull.

I find all the debate and disagreements quite entertaining...no matter which topic they are in. They both are reflections of life and human nature...and make fascinating reading-if only to wonder "why?" a good deal of the time.....

" ... it would be a bit dull."

News is supposed to be dull - almost by definition, lol
Question Author
Ok, how is this ... http://www.theanswerb...s/Question976594.html ... about healthy debate?

it's one bitter old racist goading the rest of the AB members into an argument ... ableit very successfully. It's absolutely nothing to do with the link in the OP
But naz, his question is about *why* he is receiving fewer responses to his threads.....the link is almost extraneous.

It also serves to indicate that 'debating' is beyond AOG, he likes to pontificate and insult gain-sayers.

"But naz, his question is about *why* he is receiving fewer responses to his threads.....the link is almost extraneous."

So why was it posted in News?
