anyone help out here?
Question Author
thanks for the link, but it does say, can be hardcover, paper? so none the wiser. I am simply trying to find decent hardbooks, both front and back cover to replace some well used paperbacks, which are now falling apart.
no difference.
As far as I know em10, like jno says, there's no difference in the book just the terminology :)
Question Author
its when you look at website, i can't tell whether fully hardback books
and the ones i am after are old, so out of print here, i have seen some but they have to come from US and mega expensive, been looking for a UK outlet possibly amazon, see if i can find them there. I never like buying off the net, as you just know what you are going to get.
hardback books are expensive; that's why paperbacks were invented. I sometimes buy secondhand books from Amazon and their condition is described by the seller - usually accurately but once in a while they're not as VG as they claim.

i have the paperbacks thats the point, i have read and reread them, and now trying to get decent hardbacks of same books, i didn't buy the paperbacks in the first place, someone gave them to me, they go back to early 80's. Will have another look at Amazon, thanks anyway
have you looked on abebooks? thousands of sellers of everything book and some very good prices
Question Author
woofgang, not heard of it, but i will have a look thank you
Amazon owns AbeBooks, though it seems to be run as a separate operation.
This is another good site.

thank you will look bit later.
Abe Books is very good and if you have a nectar card, you can collect points there.
pickabook is good too, and greenmetropolis (all books are something like 3.75) but they only have a limited number of titles.
books are initially released in hardback, 4-6 months later (in most cases) the paperback is launched, then the hardback is deleted from most catalogues
Why is that dotty? I prefer paperbacks but know some prefer hardbacks.
Hardback = hard cover. Two different words for the same thing.

Paperbacks with stiffer - but still soft - covers, sometimes with a dust jacket or an end flap, are known as trade paperbacks. A way of putting out a more deluxe version of a book without the expense of hard covers.
