Since the Christmas I was 8, I have had a book entitled Ruth and Mr. Podge. There are two sisters in the book, Anne, 13 and Ruth 11. I was eager for my sister, Ann, to reach 13 when, for just a couple of months, I would still be 11 and therefore the same ages as my storybook characters (strangely enough quite similar to my sister and me).
The authoress is/was Helen Swift and the book was first published in 1939 and reprinted in 1948, the year I received my Christmas present. Publishers Thomas Nelson and Sons.
I have looked on Google and have found a Helen Swift, but don't think it is the same one. Can anybody help me? Thank you. Ruth

Question Author
Thank you factor30. Helen Miller Swift seems to be American, yet the book I mention is written in such an English way that I don't think it can be the same person.
On my third post I included a link to the book you asked about so that third one is the right Helen Swift
I can't work out what you are asking, wolshouse. What more do you need to know?
Hi- have you seen my comments, wolshouse? I'm not clear what it is you want to know.
Can I put this one to bed, wolshouse? I'm still not clear what you are wanting to know but I'm assuming it no longer matters.
