I first read her House of the Spirits back in the 90's. I am now reading her new novel Island Beneath the Sea.

What a wonderful writer.

Love her work, I think my favourite is Daughter of Fortune
I'm not familiar with her, what is her genre?
Difficult to characterise ecclescake. Mostly I'd describe them as historical adventures, many set in S America or the Carabbean, some have an element of the supernatural (but definitely not horror). She has strong characters and the pace of her novels crack along. She has also written a couple of biographies, one about the loss of her child, and several childrens books
Barbara Erskine in the sun, perhaps?
Question Author
Mostly the lives of women, often with aspects of mysticism and myth.

The one i'm reading presently is the life of a female mulatto slave in the Caribbean and New Orleans.
She's pretty rocking - her own life story is almost as good as her books.
have you read Zorro. imo a great holiday read
