Ab Suggestions Needed

I am trying to put together a reading list for my ten year old daughter (just to suggest to her, not to force her to read) of books other than the Jacqueline Wilson, David Walliams and Roald Dahl that she has read a million times over. Does anyone have any particular favourites from their mispent youth that she might enjoy?

Lion Boy is brilliant. It is a trilogy and if she does give it a go, she must start with the first book called Lion Boy. If she doesn't bother, read it yourself, its fab! And I promise you you'll want to read the next one.

Terry Pratchett. Equal Rites is a good place to start. Big yes to Alan Garner. Rosemary Sutcliffe is good for historical fiction. I started reading Georgette Heyer at around age 10, Elizabeth Gouge too.

I remember reading the Larkin novels at around that age .
Starting with The Darling Buds of May.

I was reading Agatha Christie paperbacks at that age. There is nothing scary or unsuitable in them and there are no big words to stumble over.

I read century of the surgeon at that age although I'm not sure every ten year old would enjoy it. I also read the loving spirit by daphne du Maurier and was captivated by it, it remains one of my all time favourites, but again, it might not float her boat.
