He was a very good (and very funny) author - losing him and Terry Pratchett in the same year is very sad.

Very sad to learn of David's death, a patron of the British Humanist Association and a fantastic comedy writer. Had the good fortune to hear him lecture on a cruise. First lecture just a few there, but word got round how funny he was and it was standing room only after that. Hilarious. He signed a couple of books for us. Loved Reggie Perrin. He was a lovely man to talk to.
