I am wanting to buy my mother an audio book or two for Christmas preferably by Charles Dickens. She prefers unabridged versions. I have been looking what is available on the Amazon website but when I look for how many cds are involved which would give me an idea of the running time I find a number of pages is given instead. Does anyone know how the number of pages relates to the number of discs?

As far as I can tell, 'pages' and 'CDs' are synonymous as far as audio CDs are concerned. For example, Amazon shows the unabridged version of Great Expectations as '15 pages': http://tinyurl.com/h5pzmt7 whereas the publisher (Naxos) shows it as '15 CDs': http://www.naxosaudiobooks.com/great-expectations-unabridged/ Given that you're probably...

As far as I can tell, 'pages' and 'CDs' are synonymous as far as audio CDs are concerned.

For example, Amazon shows the unabridged version of Great Expectations as '15 pages':

whereas the publisher (Naxos) shows it as '15 CDs':

Given that you're probably looking at Naxos CDs for unabridged versions of Dickens, you can check on the number of CDs by clicking on the relevant links here:
http://www.naxosaudiobooks.com/dickens-charles/
PS: You won't need to do any calculations to work out the total running times of Naxos CDS. They're shown on their website anyway. (For example, Great Expectations is 19h 9m).

Thanks Buenchico for your very helpful answer. Naxos is a great website and I shall probably find something suitable there.
