I used to be a huge fan of Robert Harris.

I thought "Fatherland" and "Archangle" were fine, taughtly written books. But after reading his latest, "Conclave" I realise that there are a few hours of my life will never get back again.

I've never read any of his books. I had a couple on my shelf for years, but never got around to reading them. I've just looked to see which ones I had, and they're not there anymore. I must have given them to the charity shop in my last book cull.
I couldn't agree more. The biggest load of rubbish I've read in years. Took it as my 'holiday' book recently and was furious at how bad it was. And full of holes and basic mistakes.
nobody ever gets any of their life back

Harris seems to have lost his touch. His first three books were marvellous, and his three about Cicero were well researched.

But his book about the Dreyfus affair just went on and on and on !

Jo....I would try Fatherland. A bit like SS-GB but much better written and very believable.
