The Pilgrim's Progress, Has Any Aber Read It?

Ive had this for a long time and never got round to reading it.
Trying to read it now, its not a page turner or is it?

I read it as a child. I also have a beautifully illustrated one, bought for me as a gift.

I enjoyed reading it first time round. I remember The Slough of Despond...but as a child, I pronounced it Sluff. :-)

It's a hugely important work, but can really only be considered in the context of the time in which it was written, which was a very different world. It's most definitely not timeless.

John Bunyan's Christian allegory was written for the most part while the author was in prison for religious crime, which in itself is difficult to imagine these days, at least, in this country.

If you're hoping for a bodice-ripper, chick-lit or an Aga saga, you're going to be extremely disappointed...

The Slough of Despond is a swamp, so it's pronounced like the town, i.e. rhymes with cow, not enough.

I used to pronounce a lot of words wrongly because I had not heard them spoken. I had only read them in my little head.
