Hi, not sure if this the correct place to put this post but can anyone recommend a good up to date
French/English dictionary (pocket-sized) ???

your best bet is to look on amazon or some such site and read the customer reviews.
During my French degree, lecturers always recommended the Collins-Robert - this is a huge volume and was excellent, but they may publish a pocket version.

Quizmonkey, is the Collins-Robert dictionary suitable for biginners and good for self-teaching?
It's very comprehensive but may be unnecessarily so for a beginning adult. Collins do publish pocket dictionaries which are as good as any pocket dictionary can be. Good luck!
